Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift reportedly declined to invite a famous royal to their wedding. The couple tied the knot on July 3 at Madison Square Garden with a reported guest list of over 1000 people. Over the past few months, it became one of the most highly anticipated celebrity weddings, with many A-listers wanting to be a part of it. One of them was reportedly Meghan Markle, whose request to be invited was allegedly declined.
Insider claims Meghan Markle was not invited to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding
From pop musician Tate McRae to actor Adam Sandler, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding guest list was full of celebrities. According to industry insider Rob Shuter’s Substack publication, Naughty but Nice, many A-listers’ representatives reached out with the request for an invitation.
One insider told Naughty but Nice, “Everyone wanted in. Actors, musicians, billionaires, television stars—people were calling favors and working every connection they had. Getting invited became a status symbol.” Some sources have claimed that the one royal hoping to secure an invitation was Meghan Markle.
“Meghan wanted to be there,” a source informed Naughty but Nice. “But Taylor and Travis weren’t inviting people for headlines. They invited the people they genuinely wanted to celebrate with.” Insiders revealed that the Grammy winner’s strongest royal connections are with Prince William and Princess Kate. The Prince and Princess of Wales met Swift and Kelce privately in London a few weeks before the wedding.
Prince William and Princess Kate allegedly chose not to attend the wedding despite receiving an invitation. However, the invitation was a reflection of the strong bond they have developed with Swift over the years. “Taylor has a real relationship with William. She and Travis really enjoyed spending time with William and Kate. That’s where the connection is,” another insider said. They added that the invitations were not about “who was most famous.” Instead, it was about choosing the people the couple wanted to celebrate their big day with.
