Meghan Markle is reportedly traveling to the UK with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet this week but is no longer expected to join Prince Harry at his public Invictus Games engagement. The reported change comes after days of speculation surrounding the family’s travel plans and ongoing discussions about security.
Meghan Markle is reportedly no longer expected at the Invictus event
According to reports, the Duchess of Sussex will travel to Britain with Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, marking her first visit to the UK in nearly four years. However, she is no longer expected to appear alongside the Duke of Sussex at Friday’s one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games at Birmingham’s NEC.
Earlier reports suggested that Meghan would accompany Harry to the public engagement. However, she is now reportedly staying away from the event despite being in the UK. The reported decision follows earlier security concerns that initially kept the Duchess and the children from traveling to Britain with the Duke earlier this week.
If Meghan, Archie and Lilibet do travel to the UK as reported, the visit could create an opportunity for King Charles to see his grandchildren for the first time since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Meanwhile, Harry has reportedly met with his father only twice over the past two and a half years, while Charles has not seen Archie and Lilibet in person since their last visit to Britain. The trip could also allow Harry to introduce his children to Princess Diana’s resting place at Althorp, a visit that reports say he has hoped to make.
Reports also suggest King Charles initially offered Prince Harry and his family accommodation at Buckingham Palace, where existing security measures were already in place. However, the proposed arrangements reportedly did not move forward. According to palace sources cited in reports, the invitation was withdrawn after Harry allegedly failed to confirm the plans within the required timeframe.
