Prince Harry could reportedly reject a meeting with his father, King Charles, to avoid “frenzy” surrounding it during his UK trip. A royal expert has stated that Harry, who is visiting the UK for the first time in many years, remains “deeply committed” to promoting the Invictus Games. For those unversed, the Duke of Sussex is busy with the one-year countdown to next year’s Invictus Games.
Prince Harry will reportedly put his meeting with King Charles on hold
Prince Harry will reportedly hit pause on his meeting with King Charles. The Duke of Sussex and the King last met in September 2025 at Clarence House in London. Royal expert John McDermott, Caloroga Shark Media co-founder and creator of the Palace Intrigue podcast, shared some exclusive bits of information with Sky News Australia.
McDermott stated that, just as Charles avoided meeting his younger son during his U.S. trip, Harry may also avoid meeting his father, as any meeting between the two would “become the story.”
The expert continued: “We’re already seeing weeks of speculation over whether Harry will meet members of the Royal Family during his upcoming UK visit, so you can imagine the frenzy a meeting in California would have generated.”
The Duke of Sussex is aware that a meeting between father and son could possibly result in a “frenzy.” This could lead Harry to decide against meeting with Charles while in the UK.
McDermott explained that the Invictus Games remain the Duke’s top priority and “a cause he’s remained deeply committed to.” The royal expert also added that the Invictus Games, scheduled for next year, is a good opportunity for the royal family, particularly King Charles, to show support for Harry.
McDermott said: “With plenty of advance notice, senior members of the Royal Family will have the opportunity to decide whether to attend and won’t be able to blame ‘scheduling’ for a well-announced event. Whatever they choose, that decision makes headlines.”
Previously, the Sussexes revealed in an official statement that Meghan and the couple’s kids would not be able to join Harry on this trip due to security reasons.
