Former LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt’s father, William Pratt, has opened up about trying to extinguish a house fire in Pacific Palisades before firefighters arrived.
The incident came just months after the devastating January wildfires destroyed both his home and his son’s, making the experience especially emotional.

According to TMZ, William Pratt was passing through the Pacific Palisades in his car and chanced upon fires engulfing a two-story home under construction. NBC Los Angeles reported that he called 911 before proceeding to control the fire using a garden hose.
Firefighters arrived within about six minutes and brought the blaze under control roughly 20 minutes later. The fire remains under investigation as the exact cause is unknown. No injuries were reported.
William said the January wildfires, which destroyed both his home and Spencer Pratt’s, left him with what he described as “a little PTSD.” Remembering that experience, he said he immediately called 911 and tried to contain the flames until firefighters arrived.
The Palisades Fire swept through the Los Angeles area in 2025, forcing the mass evacuation of residents of the Pacific Palisades and the surrounding area. The fire also affected celebrities, including Spencer Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag, who documented the loss and its aftermath, as per People.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have regularly shared updates on social media about rebuilding their lives, thanking supporters and chronicling the challenges of recovering after the wildfire.
Pratt’s mayoral campaign focused heavily on wildfire preparedness and government accountability, with the reality star arguing that failures in emergency planning worsened the devastation experienced by Palisades residents. Despite generating significant media attention, he did not advance beyond the June primary.
