Deutch also praised director David Wain, saying she had been a longtime fan of his work and trusted his distinct creative vision while filming. She described making the comedy as “a blast.”
Directed by Wain and co-written with Ken Marino, the comedy stars Deutch as Gail Daughtry, a Kansas hairdresser whose relationship is thrown into turmoil after her fiancé, Tom, uses his celebrity hall pass to sleep with Jennifer Aniston.
After Tom uses his celebrity hall pass, Gail sets out for Hollywood to even the score by finding her own celebrity pass, Jon Hamm, who plays an exaggerated version of himself. Her journey unfolds as an absurd, “Wizard of Oz”-like adventure.
The reviews for this movie have been warm, as it holds a 78% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with people praising Deutch’s performance and the “Friends” actress’s scene-stealing cameo. Recently, Deutch was featured in ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’, which got a great response from viewers on Netflix.
