Donald Trump Defends Acting AG Todd Blanche Ahead of Hearing

President Donald Trump has posted a robust public defence of Todd Blanche, his acting attorney general, just hours before a crucial Senate confirmation hearing. The support comes as Blanche prepares for what is expected to be a gruelling session before the Judiciary Committee today.

Donald Trump shares lengthy Truth Social post about Todd Blanche

Trump’s Truth Social post painted Blanche’s temporary leadership as a sweeping success. He pointed out falling murder rates, claiming the country witnessed “the biggest one year drop in RECORDED HISTORY.” He also stated violent crime arrests rose “UP 100%” and highlighted the seizure of over 500 million deadly drug doses.

“Todd Blanche is doing a PHENOMENAL job as Acting Attorney General of the United States,” Donald Trump wrote. He credited Blanche with advancing several conservative priorities, including protecting free speech, ending what he termed the weaponisation of the Justice Department, and opposing transgender athletes in women’s sports. Trump added that Blanche had “gone to all-out-WAR against Fraud like nobody in the History of the Department of Justice.”

The statement contrasted Blanche’s tenure with the previous administration. “This is what happens when you unleash LAW AND ORDER on our streets, instead of protecting vicious Criminal Thugs,” Trump wrote, blaming policies under former President Joe Biden.

Furthermore, Trump also referenced their personal history. Blanche previously served as the former’s defence lawyer during various criminal trials. “When the Corrupt Biden ‘Injustice’ Department and Radical Left Prosecutors tried to throw me in jail, and interfered in our Historic 2024 Presidential Campaign, Todd stood by my side and fought off the Lawfare,” the post read.

The president ended with a direct call to action. “Every Republican Senator should vote to CONFIRM Todd Blanche, ASAP!” Blanche assumed the acting role after Pam Bondi’s firing in April. Today’s hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee promises tough questioning. Senators will likely probe his push for a nearly $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund and his department’s handling of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
