Josh Duhamel has shared his recollection of the exact moment when he realized the immensity of the 21-year age difference with his wife, Audra Mari.
Appearing on a podcast, he reportedly linked their relationship to one within his family and exclaimed at the realization.

According to Just Jared, Duhamel appeared on The HoneyDew with Ryan Sickler and talked about their age-gap relationship. While on the subject, he recalled the birth of his youngest sister, Cassidy, and how he responded at the time. The 53-year-old revealed that he was 21 and playing football at Minot State University when he came to know that his mother was pregnant with Cassidy.
Recalling the fond memory, Duhamel also came across an old photo of him as a 21-year-old holding baby Cassidy in his arms. He described the revelation, saying, “There’s a picture of me holding Cassidy as a 21-year-old young man with this little bitty infant. I looked at the photo and I looked at my wife and I said, ‘You and Cassidy are exactly the same age.'”
The realization left him laughing. He quipped, “I am officially too old for you. They’re literally like months apart in age. I never looked at it like that until I saw that photo.”
Duhamel and Mari began going out in 2018 and married in North Dakota in 2022. The couple had a son, Shepherd, in January 2024, and welcomed their daughter, Rocca, in March 2026. Duhamel also has a 13-year-old son with his ex-wife Fergie.
Duhamel has previously said that his priorities changed when he became a father later in life. Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, he told People that the hardest part of being an actor is missing his children’s milestones, and that being away from family “kills me”.
Despite the two-decade difference, Duhamel has been effusive about their relationship, saying that the similarity in their values and their North Dakota roots have kept them grounded.
