They allegedly questioned the real reason behind nominating the Duchess of Sussex this year. For those unversed, the “Suits” alum earned her first Daytime Emmy nomination for her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.”

Meghan Markle bagged a Daytime Emmy nomination for her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan.” A source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice that the news didn’t sit well with many Hollywood insiders. It was earlier reported that the streaming platform wouldn’t renew the lifestyle series for season 3. Despite that, the show earned an Emmy nod, which raised eyebrows in the entertainment industry.
“If this was truly Emmy-caliber television, why wasn’t Netflix doing everything possible to keep it alive?” That’s the question everyone in town is asking,” a veteran producer said. Furthermore, another source stated that nobody seemed to be questioning “With Love, Meghan.” Instead, they have reportedly been debating the award show’s “credibility.”
“Every awards season there’s one nomination that leaves Hollywood scratching its head. This year’s conversation is Meghan,” they added. Meanwhile, the report also highlighted the alleged dark side of award ceremonies. Reportedly, they have been “fighting for attention,” and thus, “putting Meghan Markle on the red carpet guarantees global coverage.”
Last week, Markle shared the news on her Instagram, along with a poster for her series. She captioned it as: “A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on ‘With Love, Meghan’ on @netflix. We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”
Aside from the Daytime Emmy backlash, the mother of two also caught attention with her appearance on “MasterChef Australia.” She will make a special guest appearance on the show’s July 26 episode. She will join the judges and challenge the contestants to make a “dish fit for a Duchess.”
