A new video has surfaced and sparked renewed scrutiny over the death of Nolan Wells.
Nolan’s body was located on Horn Island off the Mississippi coast after partying with three white friends. This finding has raised questions about the role of race in his unnatural death.

According to TMZ, the video that has surfaced shows the final hours before Nolan went missing on Horn Island after a 4th of July party and may prove to be vital evidence around his killing.
The video, obtained by TMZ, was recorded on the day he went missing and has telling details on how he spent his last hours. It shows several boats with many partying. A black man is also shown standing at the back deck, and seemingly reaching for a drink. Some older adults are at the scene, and metadata confirms that the video was recorded at 2.23 pm.
Though Nolan cannot be definitively identified, the person behind the camera felt compelled to carry the probable piece of evidence over to the Jackson County Sheriff’s office last week. Reportedly, the informer handed over the video to the case investigator. A few hours later, at around 4.30 pm, Nolan’s friends left the island and returned to the mainland without him. The 18-year-old’s body was found on July 6 on the island. Nobody has reported seeing him after 4.30.
The investigation around Nolan’s disappearance and the ensuing steps taken have sparked significant questions about the case, including broaching the race angle. The parents of the deceased teenager laid him to rest at Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Al Sharpton has pledged $50,000 for any arrest and conviction in Nolan’s death. He was followed by Tyler Perry has followed his lead.
In addition, the Southwest Football Instagram account also shared the news on Instagram, mourning the loss of Nolan Wells and extending condolences to his parents, family, friends, teammates, coaches, and everyone whose life was touched by him. The post concluded with a heartfelt message: “We Love you Nolan.”
However, his family is also reportedly conducting an independent investigation, including a separate autopsy to unearth the perpetrator of the black teenager’s death.
