Prince George is approaching a change, and Prince William wants him ready for more than a new school. The Prince of Wales and Kate Middleton are balancing family life with their eldest son’s royal responsibilities.
Prince William is focused on giving Prince George a balanced upbringing as he prepares for Eton College
Prince William is “absolutely determined to get it right” as Prince George prepares to enter his teenage years, The Telegraph reported. Friends of the family said William and Kate have placed family life at the center of their plans while introducing George to royal duties. One family friend said the couple will serve the monarchy but still raise their children with “as much normality as possible.”
George turns 13 on July 22 and will begin at Eton College in September. Kensington Palace confirmed the decision in June after the family considered several schools. The move will place him at the same all-boys boarding school William attended.
The Prince George Eton College transition will not begin without preparation. George reportedly asked to try boarding at Lambrook School, where students can stay for selected nights. William and Kate supported the idea, and royal biographer Robert Jobson said the experience “helped him grow.”
George will also enter Eton with a steadier home life than William had during his school years. Jobson said William arrived amid his parents’ marital conflict, while George has two parents who “built him a base and guard it fiercely.”
That difference reflects Prince William’s parenting priorities. During an appearance on “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy”, William said children need “warmth,” “safety,” “security” and “love” at home. He also said childhood drama and stress can affect people later in life.
William and Kate have slowly prepared George for the royal family’s public demands. They have joined him at Wimbledon and Trooping the Colour while protecting his school routine and private time. Eton will bring independence and public interest. Still, William appears determined to ensure that becoming a king does not prevent George from growing into a confident teenager.
