David Beckham’s Club Faces MLS Scrutiny After Major Casemiro Move

David Beckham’s Inter Miami celebrated the arrival of Casemiro before Major League Soccer launched an investigation into the transfer. League officials confirmed they are reviewing a tampering allegation connected to the Brazilian midfielder’s move from Europe to South Florida.

MLS has not reached any conclusions. The league says the review remains ongoing.

MLS investigates David Beckham’s Inter Miami over the signing of Brazilian star Casemiro

Major League Soccer announced Wednesday that it had opened a review into Inter Miami. League officials said they were gathering information related to an alleged tampering violation involving Casemiro.

The league also addressed another key detail. LA Galaxy held the Discovery Priority rights to negotiate with the Brazilian midfielder. MLS confirmed that Inter Miami and the Galaxy reached a settlement over those rights. However, the league will not release the agreement until investigators finish reviewing the matter.

According to PEOPLE, MLS rules require clubs to acquire Discovery Priority before contacting an incoming player. The investigation will determine whether Inter Miami followed those procedures.

Despite the review, Inter Miami officially unveiled Casemiro on Wednesday. The five-time UEFA Champions League winner signed a deal that runs through the 2027 MLS season. The agreement also includes an option to extend through June 2029.

Beckham welcomed the midfielder with plenty of excitement. “I’m very proud to welcome Casemiro and his family to Inter Miami,” he said in the club’s statement. Beckham added, “He is a person and a player that I have admired for a long time. He is a winner who has achieved so much in the game and after such an incredible career with Real Madrid and Manchester United I’m delighted that he’s decided to make Miami his next home.”

Casemiro also addressed questions surrounding his decision. According to ESPN, he said, “I spoke to the Galaxy a while ago. I left it very clear to them that I wanted to join Miami.” He explained that he chose the club because he loved the city, believed in the project, and wanted to play alongside Lionel Messi.

The midfielder also looked ahead to his next chapter. “What motivates me the most… is winning and continuing to grow,” he said. He added that he wanted to repay the club’s trust through both training sessions and match performances.

MLS said it will not comment further until the investigation concludes.
