Donald Trump and the White House have shared an edited video montage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on Instagram. The clip has been edited to make the president the primary presence. It removed the loud boos from the crowd when he walked across the pitch at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday, July 19.
Trump also had an awkward interaction with the Spanish football stars after he handed them the golden trophy following their victory over Argentina. Instead of leaving the podium to let the Spanish team celebrate, Trump stayed next to the players.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Spanish captain Rodri appeared to try to guide Trump off the stage, but the president lingered on the edge of the podium. Needless to say, the awkward moment sparked trolls and memes on the internet, mocking the president for not leaving. In an attempt to counter the narrative, Trump and the White House shared their own edited footage of the game, placing the president front and center. “Nobody does it quite like President Trump & America,” the caption touted.
It added, “To everyone who traveled from around the world to join, thanks for experiencing the hype firsthand. Now you know what makes America one of a kind. Huge thank you to law enforcement & everyone who made it possible.”
The 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded with Spain lifting the coveted golden trophy. The team defeated Argentina, 1-0, with Barcelona forward Ferran Torres scoring the winning goal.
