Tom Cruise Faces Major Fallout With Daughter Suri — Report

Rumors about Tom Cruise’s relationship with his daughter Suri have resurfaced again. The actor and the 20-year-old, whom he shares with Katie Holmes, are reportedly in the middle of a major rift. Cruise and Holmes were married from 2006 to 2012, and the court awarded the Dawson’s Creek actress primary custody of Suri.

Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri reportedly drops his last name

Suri is starting a new chapter under a new name. As reported by Page Six, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter has legally removed “Cruise” from her name, now using Suri Noelle. According to public records, Suri registered to vote in Pennsylvania in October 2024 while attending Carnegie Mellon University as a freshman. She filed her registration in Allegheny County under the name Suri Noelle, suggesting that is now her legal surname.

The media outlet confirmed with Pennsylvania courts that residents must use their legal name to register to vote. Records also show that Suri didn’t submit a name-change request in Allegheny County, meaning the change likely happened in New York prior to college.

She previously lived with Holmes in New York. In that state, officials typically seal name-change filings by default or when someone requests it. The exact date she legally became Suri Noelle isn’t public, but she has used the name publicly for years.

The rising performer hasn’t reportedly been close with her father for most of her life. She first drew attention in June 2024 when she left his last name off her LaGuardia High School graduation program. A source told Page Six that Suri was then “showing praise for her mother” by using Noelle, Holmes’ middle name, in such a significant way. The insider said that she also wanted to “avoid the paparazzi,” establish her “own identity,” and “start fresh at college.”

Suri first discovered her passion for acting in high school after being cast as Morticia Addams in “The Addams Family: A New Musical.” Today she is continuing that path, majoring in musical theater at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama.
