Sean “Diddy” Combs received unexpected good news behind bars despite his recent disciplinary troubles. Federal prison records showed his projected release date had moved up once again, even after an altercation reportedly landed him in solitary confinement.
The latest update marked another change in Diddy’s sentence timeline. It also raised new questions about why prison officials have repeatedly revised his projected release date.

According to TMZ, the Federal Bureau of Prisons now lists Diddy’s projected release date as January 24, 2028.
The revised timeline moves his release up by one month from the previously listed date of February 23, 2028. Earlier projections pointed to April 2028 before prison officials revised the date several times.
Diddy is serving a 50-month prison sentence after a New York jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act. Jurors acquitted him of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Neither prison officials nor federal records have explained the repeated adjustments to his projected release date.
The latest update came days after prison officials placed Diddy in solitary confinement following a fight with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Multiple outlets reported another inmate allegedly made a remark before the confrontation began.
A spokesperson for the prison declined to discuss the incident.
“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody,” the representative said in a statement. “Such information would not be available for the public domain.”
According to TMZ, prison officials initially expected Diddy to leave custody in late May 2028 before revising the date several times. The projected release later shifted to June, April, February, and now January 2028.
While serving his sentence, Diddy also sold his Miami Star Island mansion for $55 million earlier this month.
Federal agents previously searched the property during their 2024 investigation. According to court documents, investigators recovered more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, along with narcotics and other items that prosecutors alleged were connected to “Freak Off” events.
Diddy continues to challenge his conviction through the appeals process. His attorneys argued that the recorded encounters involved consensual adult activity protected by the First Amendment rather than prostitution under the Mann Act.
