The country’s most popular podcaster is again at odds with the president he once endorsed. In a recent episode, he openly challenged the administration’s stance on the conflict in the Middle East, adding to a growing list of public disagreements. His comments are drawing sharp reactions on all sides.
Joe Rogan questioned support for Israel’s war in Gaza
Joe Rogan has again broken with Donald Trump, this time over the president’s position that Israel has not committed genocide in Gaza. The split played out on the July 29 episode of Rogan’s podcast.
The backdrop: the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in 2024, and a United Nations commission later described Israel’s conduct as genocide in a report. Trump rejected that conclusion, telling reporters, “I don’t think it’s that. They’re in a war.”
Rogan saw it differently. “How could anybody defend that?” the host asked podcast guest Tim Robbins. “I don’t even know how many people are dead. You have a complete wipeout of a city, like 90 percent of Gaza is gone.” According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 75,000 people have died there since the October 7 attacks.
This is far from the first time Rogan, who endorsed Trump in 2024, has parted ways with the president. Earlier this year, he claimed parts of the MAGA base felt “betrayed” over the war in Iran, saying it “seems so insane based on what he ran on.” He later suggested Trump had been “tricked” by his team into the strike.
The White House pushed back. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump “actively seeks and solicits the opinions of everyone in the room and expects full-throated honesty from all of his top advisors.”
