Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly slipped away to one of Scotland’s most secluded islands during their recent visit to the UK. According to a report, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent part of their family holiday on Tanera Mòr, an island widely believed to have inspired the iconic British horror film “The Wicker Man.”

According to The Mail on Sunday, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, stayed on Tanera Mòr, an 800-acre island in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides, during their week-long visit to Britain last month (via Daily Mail). The report claims the Sussexes explored the island’s beaches, admired its wildlife, including otters and seals, and took a boat trip around the coastline aboard Rita, a restored vintage Clyde puffer.
The island belongs to hedge fund billionaire Ian Wace, who reportedly has a good relationship with both Prince William and Harry despite the brothers’ strained relationship. Reports also say that Harry and William have visited Tanera Mòr in the past.
Wace reportedly bought the island nine years ago for £1.7 million and has since invested as much as £100 million to transform it into an exclusive retreat capable of hosting up to 60 guests. As per the report, Wace has planted 100,000 trees, restored historic buildings, revived traditional skills such as beekeeping, and built several miles of roads while maintaining the island’s environmental focus.
Visitors are expected to follow strict sustainability rules, and locals told The Mail on Sunday that guest privacy is taken extremely seriously. According to residents, workers involved in rewilding projects are temporarily asked to leave the island before celebrity guests arrive and only return after they depart. Access to Tanera Mòr is also tightly controlled, with visitors reportedly requiring permission to use privately owned jetties before traveling to the island.
