Slipknot‘s longtime lineup has reportedly changed after more than two decades together. A new report claims the band fired Sid Wilson after growing unhappy with his behavior behind the scenes. The group hasn’t publicly discussed the reported split. But the timing and events have already generated a lot of interest amongst the fans.
Sid Wilson’s exit from Slipknot reportedly followed issues involving his behavior toward the band
According to TMZ, sources with direct knowledge said Slipknot had wanted to part ways with Wilson for a long time. The sources said band members were upset over how Wilson treated them over the years. They also reported that it was not a sudden move. Rather, the group is said to have spent a long period of time preparing for the move before taking the final decision.
The report said Slipknot planned to announce Wilson’s departure this week. However, the outlet first reported the news before the band could reveal it on its own. Sources said the early report was an upset to the band because members wanted to have control over the announcement. They also said the unexpected leak created frustration behind the scenes.
TMZ first reported that Slipknot told Wilson that they had terminated his membership for good on Friday afternoon. Wilson joined Slipknot in 1999 and became one of the band’s nine original members. The report of his departure came just a few months after he and Kelly Osbourne secretly broke up in March. Sources previously told the outlet that the former couple could still reconcile in the future.
Wilson was seen on Sunday outside of a Los Angeles recording studio when the reports of his departure circulated. He kept his head down and did not answer questions about leaving Slipknot. Slipknot hasn’t issued a public statement regarding the reported split as of now.
