Scream Queen Linda Blair Responds After Home Search by Authorities

Linda Blair says she and her animals are safe after authorities searched her Southern California property. The surprise visit centered on rescue dogs and county compliance.

The Exorcist star said the issue involved paperwork, not an emergency. She also turned attention back to the growing animal rescue crisis.

Los Angeles County authorities searched Blair’s property on July 31 under an inspection warrant, Page Six reported. Officials from the Department of Animal Care and Control and the Department of Regional Planning participated in the operation.

In a statement shared with People, the county said the inspection focused on buildings connected to a kennel operation reportedly housing more than 100 dogs. Authorities also wanted to evaluate the animals’ welfare and determine whether the property met county requirements. The animal care department claimed the kennel permits expired in 2023. It also alleged that previous attempts to reach the property owner went unanswered.

Blair addressed the visit in an Instagram video. “I am fine, the animals are fine, and we just have some paperwork that has to be dealt with,” she said. She added that officials requested new diagrams and described their arrival as a “really big surprise.”

The actor questioned why authorities had not contacted her by mail first. She also said she had tried to relocate for about two years because moving would benefit her health and help her expand her educational and rescue work.

Authorities reportedly removed dogs from the property, and Blair cooperated throughout the inspection. The county said the matter remains under investigation, limiting the details officials could release.

Blair founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected, and abandoned animals. She asked supporters to donate, volunteer, or foster animals, as shelters face mounting pressure nationwide. Her work reflects a wider celebrity-backed push to support animal rescue, including reported plans for new rescue centers and high-profile animal activism.

The actor also remains connected to her horror legacy. In 2025, Blair attended the Chiller Theatre Expo, the same fan convention where RHOBH alum Kim Richards made a rare public appearance.
