Prince Harry caught off-guard after King Charles’ comment
During his appearance at the August 7 David Foster Foundation 40th Anniversary Gala in British Columbia, Canada, Prince Harry encountered Sydnie Christmas, the 2024 winner of Britain’s Got Talent. After Christmas’ performance at the occasion, the duo exchanged some warm words, during which the singer made a humorous remark about King Charles.
“When I was on stage, I joked about meeting his dad before adding, ‘Sorry he couldn’t make it. He sent me instead.’ Oh my god – I say such silly things when I’m nervous,” the 31-year-old musician told The Sun. To Christmas’ luck, Prince Harry did not take offence at the comment and instead responded by laughing.
Adding to the Duke of Sussex’s unexpected reaction to her on-stage quip about King Charles, Christmas revealed that Prince Harry even made a royal protocol exception for her while greeting her. “When I got down off stage, he just came forward and gave me a big cuddle,” she noted, adding, “And he went, ‘Sydnie, I felt every word. I really felt that in the back of my throat.’ He just went in for the hug, and I was like, ‘Why not?’”
The English singer even took to her social media profile to share a moment from her interaction with the fifth-in-line to the throne. “An absolute pinch me moment,” Christmas wrote in the caption of her Instagram post with Prince Harry. She also complimented the royal family member’s personality in the update, stating, “You are the loveliest soul.”
