BTS stars J-Hope and RM sparked backlash after they attended a Chris Brown concert and appeared to enjoy the performance. J-Hope shared videos from the event on Instagram, quickly turning a private night out into another debate among BTS fans.
The reaction centered on Brown’s controversial history, including allegations and legal cases involving violence and sexual misconduct. Some fans questioned why RM and J-Hope would publicly attend the concert despite the criticism surrounding the singer.
BTS fans questioned J-Hope and RM’s decision to attend Chris Brown’s concert
Several fans argued that the J-Hope RM concert appearance clashed with values they associated with BTS. One user wrote, “unbelievable, weren’t them feminists? what are they doing with this public known woman abuser and beater?”
Another fan questioned the decision even more bluntly, writing, “anging out with a rapist is a new blow even for them.”
A third user wrote, “I’m sorry but why are they not cancelled yet? Men privilege is real.”
Other reactions focused on BTS’ largely female fandom and the influence that RM and J-Hope held within it. One fan wrote, “Chris Brown concert? Really? A man who nearly beat a woman to death? And your own fandom is mostly women?”
Another BTS fan also wrote, “As a female BTS fan, I’m disappointed that Taehyung, Jungkook, Namjoon, and Hoseok support Chris Brown because it’s IMPOSSIBLE that they don’t know all the atrocities this awful man has committed against multiple women.”
Another critic rejected the idea that the members simply attended for the music. “They’re there for the music’ do NOTTTTTT play that bulls**t,” the user wrote, adding that fans had every right to feel disappointed.
Neither J-Hope nor RM addressed the BTS backlash publicly. The criticism remained fan-driven and did not represent an official controversy involving the group or its management.
The reaction arrived as BTS continued its massive Arirang World Tour. The group had performed in Baltimore on August 10 and 11 before continuing through North America, with South American dates scheduled for October.
BTS also faced separate criticism over its Google Gemini collaboration, intensifying online discussion around the group.
