Dylan Walsh learned that a Cameo message could travel much farther than expected after he revealed a major detail about Heated Rivalry Season 2. The actor’s viral video sparked fan theories about the episode count. It also prompted him to pause his Cameo account after the leak apparently landed him in trouble.
Walsh plays David Hollander, the father of Hudson Williams‘ Shane Hollander, on the hit hockey romance. While chatting with a fan, he said he was preparing to return to Canada and expected to film 12 episodes this time.

The Cameo quickly spread across social media, turning Walsh’s casual update into a full-blown Heated Rivalry guessing game. Fans wondered whether producers planned to film Seasons 2 and 3 together or split a larger story across two batches.
Walsh later paused his Cameo account, which now showed that he would not accept personalised video requests until August 2027. Entertainment Weekly reported that a message beneath his profile explained the sudden disappearance: “Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble.”
The number 12 also raised eyebrows because Season 1 contained six episodes. Showrunner Jacob Tierney had previously pushed back against longer seasons, telling the Los Angeles Times, “I don’t need to do 10. I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey.”
Despite Walsh’s slip, producers continued filming Season 2, which they planned to premiere in April 2027. The new episodes will continue Shane and Ilya Rozanov’s secret relationship, with Connor Storrie returning alongside Williams.
Walsh’s David discovered their romance during the Season 1 finale, giving the character an important connection to the central couple. Christina Chang also planned to return as Yuna Hollander.
The new season will also introduce Charlie Gillespie and Justice Smith as Troy Barrett and Harris Drover. Their storyline will draw from Rachel Reid’s The Long Game, which follows Ilya after he moves to Canada to stay closer to Shane.
Ironically, the leak mirrored a major plot point from Reid’s book involving a video spreading through a Cameo-like app. Walsh may have wished his own Cameo had stayed a little less memorable.
