Karoline Leavitt will step down from her role as White House Press Secretary at the end of August, leaving Donald Trump looking for a potential replacement.
While many White House insiders thought Leavitt would serve in the role throughout Trump’s term, the administration is now facing the question of her successor. Sources from the White House recently reached out to the New York Post and stated that Trump has yet to decide who would take Leavitt’s place. But the names of potential frontrunners, who Trump might be very familiar with, have already started making the rounds online.
According to the outlet, the top candidates for the role are Alina Habba and Matthew Boyle.
Habba gained recognition among Trump’s admirers for her roles as one of his defense lawyers and as a counselor. She was also New Jersey’s former acting US attorney. On the other hand, Boyle is the Chief of the Breitbart Washington Bureau. Boyle is known among Trump allies as someone who has interviewed Trump on many occasions and as an experienced media person.
Apart from them, the other candidates are current White House communications director Steven Cheung; former deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel at the White House, Taylor Budowich; Katie Miller, who previously worked with Elon Musk at DOGE; principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly; among others.
Announcing Leavitt’s announcement on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!”
