Recent reports have claimed King Charles and Prince William are facing tension over how the monarchy should handle Prince Harry. The issue was discussed by royal journalist Robert Jobson during an episode of “The Royalist” podcast. Speaking with host Tom Sykes, Jobson suggested that Charles may have a “blind spot” when it comes to his younger son.
Jobson drew a comparison with the late Queen Elizabeth II and her relationship with ex-Prince Andrew. He claimed the former monarch did not always listen to those around her toward the end of her reign. According to Jobson, Charles could now be facing a similar situation with Harry. “But is he now doing the same thing to his darling boy Harry?” Jobson asked. He argued that the King’s willingness to keep the Duke close could eventually make things more complicated for William.
The author’s concern centers on what happens when William eventually becomes King. Jobson suggested that allowing Harry back into royal life now could leave the Prince of Wales responsible for managing the situation later.
“If you start inviting Harry back into the fold when he’s deeply unpopular,” Jobson said, it could leave the future monarch to “resolve the issue.” He added that he did not believe this would be fair to William.
The warning comes amid separate reports of tension between Charles and William. As per reports, the father and son still communicate about important royal matters. However, their aides are allegedly handling more of their communication as the pair try to avoid confrontations.
At the same time, Charles has seemingly remained committed to maintaining his relationship with Harry. The King met Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children at Highgrove House on July 10. The gathering marked the first time Charles had seen Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in person since 2022.
For Jobson, however, the concern is about where that relationship could lead. He warned that allowing Harry even a limited return could gradually result in greater involvement. “If you let him in a little bit… you give him an inch, he’ll take a yard,” Jobson said. In his view, that could ultimately leave William dealing with the consequences.
