According to the New York Post, prosecutors presented text messages that the Massachusetts delivery nurse sent to her then-husband on Thursday, including messages from the day she allegedly killed her children.
The texts stand out because Lindsay Clancy and her then-husband, Patrick Clancy, exchanged them just hours before she allegedly killed their three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, at their Massachusetts home.
Lindsay texted, “Any chance you want to do take out from ThreeV. I didn’t cook anything. It’s been a long day.”
In response, Patrick wrote, “Yeah,” followed by this former labor wrote, “Okie doke. Check the menu when you can.”
Later, Patrick Clancy asked Lindsay what she was ordering for takeout, saying, “What are you getting?” He also asked his then-wife whether their baby boy, Callan, had woken up. Lindsay replied, “It was just a short nap.”
Another text exchange from earlier on the alleged murder day was also presented in court. Sometime after 8:42 a.m., Lindsay texted Patrick about their daughter’s health, saying that her urine looked good and there appeared to be no problem with her kidneys. Patrick responded by praising her, telling her, “Oh wow. You’re a good momma.”
Lindsay Clancy’s lawyers argue that she suffered from severe postpartum psychosis, which impaired her mental state and led to the deaths of her children. However, prosecutors allege that she carefully planned the killings because she wanted to escape the responsibilities of raising her children.
