“I have a daughter now and … you need a really good reason to want to go to work now,” Evans said in a clip shared on social media. “So, you know, priorities have shifted a bit.”
The actor and Baptista welcomed their first child, daughter Alma Grace Baptista Evans, in 2025. At the time, a source told PEOPLE the couple wanted to enjoy the special first days of parenthood away from the spotlight.
“They’re enjoying their privacy and these special first few days as a family with their baby,” the insider said.
Meanwhile, Evans and Baptista have continued to keep their family life largely private. The couple first sparked romance rumors in 2021 before making their relationship Instagram official in January 2023.
Soon after, a source told Us Weekly that the relationship had become serious. The insider said the pair enjoyed a quiet life together in Massachusetts, where they spent most of their time surrounded by nature.
Additionally, Evans had previously shared that he wanted to take his time before settling down. That patience eventually led to marriage.
The couple secretly tied the knot in Cape Cod in September 2023. Later, Evans confirmed they also celebrated with a second wedding in Portugal, calling both ceremonies “wonderful and beautiful.”
Earlier this year, the actor also shared a sweet story about his proposal. During an interview with The Knot, Evans revealed he learned how to ask Baptista to marry him in Portuguese.
He admitted he practiced the phrase all week and became so worried about spoiling the surprise that he almost said it out loud while making breakfast. Although he joked that he may have stumbled over the words, the proposal was a success.
Now, Evans says becoming a father has changed everything. While acting remains an important part of his life, he made it clear that spending time with his daughter comes first.
