Drea de Matteo initially created her OnlyFans account to host a podcast, but a foreclosure crisis soon changed the page’s purpose. Emmy-winning series The Sopranos star has now revealed how financial troubles, a flooded home, and an unexpected suggestion from her children led her to turn the account into a major source of income.

She opened up about the decision during an appearance on the Hate to Break It to Ya podcast. “Honestly, we were going to use the OnlyFans platform to start a podcast because I was afraid that I’d be censored too much to talk about stuff just out there in the world,” she said.
After creating the Drea de Matteo OnlyFans page, she said her financial situation was already difficult. She also faced problems with her home after it flooded while she was dealing with foreclosure.
“So we were going to do the podcast on there, and so I set up the page, and we were in a really bad spot,” she said of her situation in August 2023. “We knew that the foreclosure was around the corner. My house flooded, so I couldn’t sell the house quickly. It flooded right as I was getting news of the last foreclosure.”
According to EW, De Matteo said she viewed the circumstances as a form of divine intervention. She and her family then went to Tahoe, and when she returned, her children suggested a different use for the OnlyFans account.
“The kids were like, ‘Show your feet on OnlyFans,’” she recalled.
De Matteo subsequently posted a bikini picture on the account. She said the response allowed her to pay a $75,000 lien within 75 minutes. She also said she had earned tens of thousands of dollars each month through OnlyFans since launching the page. The income allowed her to fund her podcast and her T-shirt company, ULTRAFREE.
De Matteo later described the account as a way for fans to see more of her The Sopranos character, Adriana La Cerva. “The OnlyFans thing, I always say, it’s Adriana’s fan page because people love her,” she said. “I mean, I’ve done a lot of other TV shows, but that’s the TV show people really love. So, you want to see more Adriana, go there, and that’s where I am.”
