Meghan Markle & Dad Thomas Markle Could Make Joint Emmys History — Report

Meghan Markle could have a historic night at the Daytime Emmys. Her father, Thomas Markle, is already a two-time winner of the television award. Now, reports suggest Meghan’s nomination for “With Love, Meghan” could create an unusual family achievement. If she wins, the pair could reportedly become only the second father-daughter duo in Daytime Emmy history to both take home the coveted trophy.

Meghan and Thomas Markle could share a unique place in Daytime Emmy history if she wins at this year’s ceremony. The Duchess of Sussex is a first-time nominee for “With Love, Meghan.” Her Netflix series is nominated in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category alongside four other shows.

The possibility is particularly notable because Thomas already has two Daytime Emmys. He won in 1982 and again in 2011 for his technical work on the long-running soap opera “General Hospital.” His daughter also has a connection to the show. Before becoming widely known for “Suits,” she appeared in two episodes of the medical drama in 2001.

If Meghan wins, the pair could become just the second father and daughter to both receive the prestigious television award, as per the Express. The first duo to achieve the feat was Mehmet Oz and his daughter, Daphne Oz. They became part of Emmy history when Daphne joined her father as a winner in 2015.

For Thomas, however, the potential achievement could bring mixed emotions. A friend told the Sunday Express that he remains “enormously proud” of his daughter despite their alleged estrangement. They also described a possible win as “incredibly bittersweet.”

Meanwhile, Meghan’s nomination comes after “With Love, Meghan” ran for two seasons on Netflix before reportedly being canceled earlier this year. She is one of five nominees competing in the lifestyle category. The ceremony is scheduled for October 30 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, where the “Suits” actor is expected to attend with her husband, Prince Harry.
