Selena Gomez is pushing back as the legal fight around Wondermind moves into a sharper phase. Investors say they put nearly $1.2 million into the mental health startup based on representations they now challenge in federal court. The dispute also involves Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, and former business partner Daniella Pierson. Gomez’s legal team has now signaled that it intends to challenge the claims directly.
Wondermind investors accuse Selena Gomez and her co-founders of misleading them
Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, told People that the allegations against the singer are “completely meritless, both factually and legally.” He said her team will vigorously defend her and plans to file a motion asking the court to dismiss the claims.
The Wondermind lawsuit was filed in Delaware federal court on Aug. 13. According to the federal complaint, two investment entities put nearly $1.2 million into Wondermind after the defendants allegedly represented that the company had the leadership, infrastructure and resources needed to build a profitable mental health and wellness platform.
The Wondermind investors claim they received misleading information about several parts of the business. The complaint alleges they were told Gomez would actively help build the company through a marketing role, while Daniella Pierson had secured institutional partnerships and revenue-generating initiatives were already underway. The plaintiffs contend those plans did not materialize as represented.
Wondermind’s official website identifies Gomez, Mandy Teefey and Pierson as its co-founders. It currently lists Teefey as co-founder and CEO and describes Gomez as a co-founder.
The latest response follows the earlier lawsuit allegations about the company’s finances, leadership, and Gomez’s level of involvement. The complaint says the plaintiffs learned about deeper operational problems after a September 2025 investigation by The Cut.
Pierson has also rejected the allegations. Her office told Entertainment Weekly that she “categorically denies” the claims and intends to present documentation and financial records in response. People reported that Teefey has not publicly commented on the lawsuit.
The allegations remain unproven, and the filing represents the plaintiffs’ version of events. Gomez’s planned motion to dismiss will give her legal team its first formal opportunity to challenge the claims in court.
