Oppenheimer Star Hits His Breaking Point With Hollywood: ‘I’d Go Broke’

In the entertainment industry, many people work for decades, while some continue until death. However, others choose to announce their retirement early, and that appears to be the case with Oppenheimer star David Krumholtz, whose words may leave his fans heartbroken.

David Krumholtz announces indefinite acting hiatus after admitting he’s ‘fed up’ with the industry

On Monday, August 17, 2026, the 48-year-old actor wrote on Thread that he was becoming fed up with the acting industry and had therefore decided to put his career on hold.

As per the Just Jared coverage, David said, “I kinda sorta put my acting career on hold the other day. It’s been something I’ve been petrified to do for years.”

“Specifically, the fear was that I’d go broke and not be able to handle being out of the game,” he added

Krumholtz went on, writing, “A huge wave of relief washed over me. Not sure what I’m going to do for money instead, or how I’m going to do it, but I just removed a humongous burden, one that I truly didn’t fathom the weight of until it was gone. Frustrated, fed up, fried.”

“Hoping to find a new, more rewarding passion. Me, my product, and I mentality is not working anymore. I want to try to be of service. No crystal ball,” he concluded

As for what he plans to do if he steps away from acting, David Krumholtz has already considered inspiring school children through motivational speaking.

Moreover, the New York-born actor’s career, he began acting on Broadway in 1992 and made his film debut in 1993. Although David Krumholtz has gained widespread recognition for Oppenheimer in recent years, he has built an impressive career with more than 100 acting credits across film and television.

Besides Oppenheimer, Krumholtz has also worked on projects such as Supergirl, The Studio, and Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.
