Barry Manilow, the Grammy-winning singer behind hits such as Mandy and Copacabana, has canceled two upcoming Las Vegas residency shows at the last minute. The sudden decision comes after the 83-year-old singer faced health challenges earlier this year. The cancellations concern his fans.
Barry Manilow cancels two Las Vegas residency shows due to technical and vocal problems
Manilow announced on his Instagram Friday, Aug. 21, that he would not perform that night or the day after, Aug. 22, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. He said technical and vocal issues made it impossible to put on the show.
“We’re very sorry but we have to cancel tonight’s and tomorrow’s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show,” Manilow, 83, wrote in a statement.
The decision came just weeks after Manilow postponed his Aug. 4 concert in Lexington, Ky. No specific reason was given for that change.
Earlier in March, his Lexington show at Rupp Arena was also postponed while he underwent treatment for stage 1 lung cancer, according to local NBC affiliate LEX News. Manilow discovered the cancer after visiting his doctor for hip pain. Following two rounds of bronchitis in November 2025, he underwent an MRI of his pelvis and lungs, which revealed the cancer. Manilow said that the doctor “saved my life, because there’s no symptoms for what I had.”
The diagnosis also changed how Manilow viewed his life and career. “It has really, really made me take stock of my life,” he told PEOPLE. “This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks.”
Manilow also credited his husband and manager, Garry Kief, for supporting him through his treatment and efforts to reclaim his voice.
Despite the setbacks, the singer remained optimistic, adding: “And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought.”
Manilow is currently scheduled to return to his Las Vegas residency on Thursday, Aug. 27.
