Morrissey scrapped his four-night stand at the Wynn Las Vegas, and the news arrived only days before opening night. Sleeplessness had already forced him to cancel another performance months earlier.
The singer planned to open the run at the Encore Theater on Aug. 14. Instead, ticket buyers opened an email on Friday informing them the shows would not happen, with organizers citing “unforeseen logistical challenges.” Many of those fans had already paid for travel and accommodations to reach Las Vegas.
“Hello, we regret to inform you that Morrissey – Live in Concert, scheduled for August 14, 15, 18, and 19 at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas, has been canceled,” the email said, according to Rolling Stone. It continued, “Due to unforeseen logistical issues, the scheduled Las Vegas residency cannot take place.”
His official website still lists the dates and has not addressed the cancellation. The Wynn, however, removed the shows from its Entertainment page, and Ticketmaster now tells buyers, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

No one has explained what those logistical issues involve. Morrissey last performed on Aug. 1 in Portugal.

Back in March, the 67-year-old walked away from a Madrid date shortly before he was due onstage, blaming severe “sleep deprivation.” Loud construction near his hotel had kept him awake the night before. “An 8am drill is a drill too far,” he wrote in a statement, saying the noise left him in a “catatonic state.” He added, “I will need one year to recover.”
Other examples stretch back further. His team cited a “credible death threat” in November 2025 when he canceled two shows in the U.S. ahead of a planned performance in Ottawa, Canada. He also canceled a run of North American dates in 2024 while initially citing “unforeseen circumstances.”
This year began with the cancellation of California concerts. They had rescheduled it once in 2025. Morrissey attributed those cancellations to an adverse reaction to a prescription medication. Illness cut his Atlanta show short. Meanwhile the flu forced him to cancel his St. Louis show on the day it was scheduled.
Morrissey first rose to prominence as the frontman of The Smiths in the 1980s alongside guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke, and drummer Mike Joyce. The influential British band split in 1987, after which he built a successful solo career.
