Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children joined other members of the royal family for a visit to a church near Balmoral Castle. The outing comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prepare to return to the UK, years after stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California in 2020.
Prince William and Kate Middleton keep a united front in new outing
Prince William and Kate Middleton were spotted arriving by car at Crathie Kirk for a church service with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. They were joined by several other members of the royal family, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Edward, and his daughter, Lady Louise.
The Waleses have been staying at Balmoral since Thursday, August 20. The estate has long served as a summer and autumn retreat for the royal family, offering them a chance to escape the spotlight and enjoy outdoor activities.
The outing comes as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children prepare to return to the UK, more than a month after the Duke of Sussex’s reunion with King Charles. The Sussexes are reportedly set to live in a private residence rather than receive royal accommodation.
Their return will also see them remain private citizens, with no plans to resume their former royal duties. Archie and Lilibet are reportedly expected to attend an undisclosed school in the UK starting next month.
According to HELLO!‘s royal editor Emily Nash, the Waleses may not be particularly pleased about the Sussexes’ return. “Well, what is intriguing about this is the complete radio silence coming from that end of the spectrum. And what’s interesting about it is that they’re normally away at this time of year. I imagine they’re not delighted about this,” she said.
“It’s going to be a very, very difficult hill to climb, having them suddenly back in the UK, popping up, doing things publicly, if that’s where they go with this. So much has been said and done that has damaged that relationship, almost beyond repair,” she further added, reflecting on the bond between the two couples. Nash also suggested that she cannot envision a scenario in which the Sussexes would receive a warm welcome from the Waleses.
