Despite accompanying him to the Freedom 250 IndyCar race in Washington, Donald Trump‘s wife Melania chose to be absent from a subsequent White House event, raising eyebrows. With the couple seemingly engaging in an uneasy conversation prior to the education event, a body language expert has broken down the First Lady’s reactions to give further insight into her decision to skip the function.
Melania Trump was absent from White House event after IndyCar incident
On August 23, Donald Trump and his wife Melania attended the Freedom 250 Grand Prix. However, their public outing also featured a tense exchange between the couple. This was followed by Melania skipping Monday’s education event at the White House’s Rose Garden.
In a report by The Mirror, Judi James explained the moment during the IndyCar race. The kinesics specialist believes it could have influenced the First Lady to ditch the said White House event. She spoke of Donald Trump’s argument with his wife over the weekend.
James noted, “For much of this appearance, the Trumps’ body language resembled that of a Kardashian on a date night.” The expert highlighted the “smiles and tactile rituals like her hand casually and comfortably placed on his thigh or knee.” As for the POTUS, James spoke of “his hand ‘lidding’ her hand clasp that was placed on her own thigh.”
She continued, “Her smile has vanished in this clip though, and her behavior suggests she’s keen to make a serious point to her husband. It involves some intense conversation, primarily from her side, but also some intense listening signals, as after she leans close to speak directly into his ear, she watches his face to monitor his reply.”
According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Donald Trump and Melania seemed to argue about a text she had received. Additionally, the couple also had a tense conversation about having had “enough of” an unidentified woman.
Notably, the Freedom 250 Grand Prix was the first time Melania Trump appeared in public in about a month.
