Prince William Bites His Tongue as Prince Harry Grabs Headlines — Expert

Prince William is allegedly maintaining his silence over Prince Harrys headline-grabbing shenanigans. The estranged brothers have not spoken publicly since the Duke of Sussex moved to California with his wife, Meghan Markle. According to an expert, while the monarch-in-waiting is far from enthused by the Sussexes’ sudden decision to return to the UK, he is seething behind closed doors even if he has been neutral in public.

Prince William reportedly stays silent over Prince Harry’s headline tactics

Prince William has not commented publicly on Prince Harry’s return to the UK with his family, but he is “apoplectic” about this new development. On the August 25 episode of the Palace Confidential podcast, the Daily Mail’s royal expert Sarah Vine spoke about the future king’s alleged reaction.

“His reaction so far has been about right, actually. Just neutrality. Just keep your powder dry. Don’t rise to any of the insults or anything. Just, you know, keep your head down and keep going,” Vine said. “We have been told that behind closed doors he was, in fact, apoplectic.” She said that the shocking decision to move to the UK was typical of the couple and bound to irate William.

Explaining why William was annoyed with Harry’s reckless decisions, Vine said, “William is someone who plays by the book, and I think his brother’s desire to always grab the headlines by being so maverick must be quite irritating for him.” She added, “William and Harry, it’s no secret there is no love lost currently between the brothers. Harry has on numerous occasions attacked his brother.”

Harry made explosive claims in interviews after stepping down as a working royal with his wife. His 2023 memoir, Spare, also had similar claims. So far, William has not refuted any of them publicly. Vine said, “Actually, William hasn’t really fought back. It wouldn’t be right for him to do so. He’s in a different position, and he’s going to be the next king. So, he has to maintain a sort of veneer of neutrality.”
