A body-language expert weighed in on Justin and Hailey Bieber’s wedding interaction.
The couple attended the wedding at San Ysidro Ranch on Saturday. Billie Eilish’s brother, Finneas O’Connell, married longtime partner Claudia Sulewski. Justin and Hailey were photographed speaking away from other guests. At one point, Hailey appeared to gesture dramatically during their conversation.
The pair later walked in different directions. Their interaction quickly prompted speculation about possible tension between the spouses. However, body-language expert Judi James offered a more cautious interpretation. She told the Daily Mail that Hailey’s behaviour suggested “tension or drama.”
“The way that Hailey looks back at her husband” created that impression, James said. She also commented on Justin’s posture during the exchange. Justin’s “gently hunched posture” made him appear “less motivated and less positive,” James added. However, she did not believe the photographs showed a clear argument.
“Hailey has been waving her arms and pointing,” James said. “Although not at him, so no signal of conflict.” The interaction came shortly before an important milestone for the couple. Justin and Hailey are approaching their eighth wedding anniversary.
They legally married in a New York City courthouse on September 13, 2018. The couple later celebrated with a larger ceremony involving family and friends. They also share a two-year-old son, Jack Blues. Hailey recently celebrated his birthday with a series of photographs.
The Biebers have occasionally addressed disagreements publicly in the past. Justin notably revealed details about a major agreement in 2025. He admitted making an unkind prediction about Hailey’s future Vogue cover. Justin later reflected on the desire to “get even” during conflict.
