A.B. Quintanilla III has confirmed that he is taking legal action against his sister, Suzette Quintanilla-Arriaga. The 62-year-old producer and songwriter, the older brother of late Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla, said he will not give interviews or discuss the details of the case at this time.

A.B. addressed the situation in an Instagram post shared in both Spanish and English. He said he received “numerous calls and inquiries” about the lawsuit and chose to clarify the situation publicly. He wrote, “Yes, there is a lawsuit related to Suzette Arriaga, as well as to facts and circumstances related to my father, Abraham Quintanilla.” Their father, who was also Selena’s manager and played a central role in her rise to fame, died in December 2025 at the age of 86.
A.B. stated, “The lawsuit is part of a process that began a few months ago, but what led me to this point did not start a few months ago. It comes from years. Years of accumulated situations, decisions, and circumstances that for a long time I chose to keep silent out of respect, out of loyalty, and above all, because it involved my own family… There are things I have discovered and experienced during this process that have deeply impacted me.”
He said he would not be granting interviews or “entering into details of the case at this time.” However, he suggested that “years of history” support his case. The exact reason behind the legal action against his sister remains unclear. His announcement comes months after Suzette sued SHEIN over an alleged unauthorized Selena clothing design featuring her sister’s image.
On the other hand, A.B. played a key role in building Selena’s musical legacy. He served as her bassist, musical director, and producer. He wrote or co-wrote several of Selena’s signature songs, including Como la Flor, Amor Prohibido, and Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.
