Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly discussed the former’s acting return even before an opportunity knocked on their doors. This revelation comes as Prince Harry’s UK return puts the couple back in the spotlight. Markle is reportedly set to join Guy Ritchie’s Netflix drama “The Gentlemen.”

Sources recently told PEOPLE that discussions about Markle’s return to acting had taken place well before the opportunity arose. Before stepping away from acting in 2017, Markle was widely known for her performance as Rachel Zane in “Suits.” She quit Hollywood after marrying the Duke of Sussex and becoming part of the royal family.
During her appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Netflix’s scripted chief in the UK, Manda Levin, was asked about the rumored casting of Markle. She responded, “All bets are off.”
At the time of writing, it remains unknown what role she would play in the Netflix series. While Markle’s specific opportunity is sparking massive discussions, there’s also a conflicting report suggesting that her casting may have been withdrawn.
According to Tina Brown, the former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, Markle may no longer be part of the Guy Ritchie project due to intense backlash. She explained, “The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward. This does not bode well for Meghan’s acting comeback in the UK. More to come.” However, none of the reports have been confirmed by any official party.
While Markle has been inactive in mainstream entertainment projects, she has worked on more documentary-style gigs in recent years. These include “Live to Lead,” “With Love, Meghan,” “Harry & Meghan,” “Heart of Invictus,” and more. She also made a cameo as herself in the movie Close Personal Friends.
