Kate Middleton is reportedly taken aback by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move back to the UK. For those unfamiliar, the Sussexes flew privately from California to Birmingham on August 26. The couple plans to stay in Britain for an extended period of time in a private, non-royal home.
Notably, King Charles was reportedly informed of Harry and Meghan’s plans. However, William and Kate were said to be completely blindsided by this news.
Sources reveal Kate Middleton’s feelings about Prince Harry’s UK move
Sources cited by Closer Online alleged that Kate Middleton is in “massive shock” over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. Although King Charles has reportedly made it clear that the Sussexes will maintain their status as non-working royals, this hasn’t eased Kate’s fears.
As per the outlet, the Princess of Wales is aware that they cannot avoid bumping into the Sussexes altogether. The source said, “This is Kate’s worst nightmare and a massive shock, but her initial instinct was to think about the stability of the family and the monarchy, rather than her personal emotions.”
The source alleged that she is aware that Harry and Meghan come with the baggage of “unresolved” issues and trauma. The Sussexes stepped down from their roles as working royals in January 2020. The following year, they sat down to discuss their experiences with the royal family on Oprah Winfrey’s show. The couple slammed the British monarchy and made some serious allegations against the royal family.
A couple of years later, the Duke of Sussex released his tell-all memoir “Spare.” In the book, he shed light on his strained relationships with King Charles and Prince William.
Notably, Kate remembers how “painful and destabilising” those years were for the family. The Princess of Wales fears the cycle will repeat itself now that the Sussexes are back in Britain. “She can’t see how it’s all going to work, and the news has left her reeling,” the insider added.
The source continued, “Kate’s worried about the Sussexes’ return. So much has happened, and trust has been lost. How do you rebuild a relationship when you’re no longer confident that what happens privately will remain private?”
