Things could be about to get ugly between Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness. The former couple are reportedly both penning memoirs. And they could be pretty juicy given their relatively fresh (and allegedly “contentious”) divorce. A source says publishers are particularly keen on getting their hands on Deborra-Lee’s book.
The source says Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness’ memoirs “spell drama”
Could it be a war of words? A source told National Examiner: “Their divorce got contentious, so there’s no doubt there will be competition when it comes to them having memoirs out at the same time.”
Apparently, a fierce bidding war has already begun over the rights to Deborra-Lee’s book. Sources say it’s likely to be a huge hit. Meanwhile, Hugh’s memoir has been in the works for a couple of years.
Hugh and Deborra-Lee announced their split in September 2023. Deborra-Lee filed for divorce in May 2025. The separation was seemingly fairly amicable at first. In a joint statement, they said: “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”
But things clearly went awry. Speaking to the Daily Mail in May, Deborra-Lee said: “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.”
The betrayal she’s referring to could be something to do with the rumors that Hugh cheated on her with his current girlfriend, Sutton Foster. While the pair only took their romance public in early 2025, sources claim they grew close while working together in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man.
