After asking about his role in the classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, TODAY’s Al Roker then questioned Dick Van Dyke about the truth behind him almost becoming James Bond after Sean Connery.

“I almost did,” Van Dyke replied. “Cubby Broccoli (producer Albert R. Broccoli) came to me and said, ‘Would you like to be Bond?’ And I said, ‘Have you heard my British accent?'” he added, miming a “click” to signal the end a the phone call and the conversation.

Though Van Dyke did mention regretting turning down the opportunity, he did have an argument for it. I have no idea.” Additionally, he shared how singing and dancing keep him going even now. “Singing is the best thing you can do for yourself. Usually, I’ll wake up with an old tune going through my head,” The Dick Van Dyke Show star shared.
