Ray J reportedly arrested for pulling gun on estranged wife over alleged custody dispute
Music artist and reality TV personality Ray J was arrested early Thursday morning after Los Angeles police responded to a call describing a domestic dispute and a possible weapon in the home. According to LAPD, officers arrived around 4 a.m. following a report of threats made during what was described as an escalating family conflict involving custody issues. Jail records obtained by ABC News confirm the R&B singer was booked on a felony charge and later released on a $50,000 bond.
Meanwhile, TMZ published portions of a livestream that Ray J allegedly broadcast shortly before officers arrived. In the footage, Ray J appears agitated, claiming he was experiencing “the worst Thanksgiving.” He added that someone was “trying to take” his children. At one point in the video, he is seen picking up what appears to be a handgun. TMZ reports that viewers heard him make threats toward an unidentified person.
The livestream also shows Princess Love entering the room, holding their daughter. She can be heard accusing Ray J of pointing a gun at them. Ray J then alleges that Princess and another family member had been drinking. Moments later, additional people appear onscreen, and the confrontation intensifies before the camera is set down.
Ray J and Princess Love married in 2016 and share two children: Melody, 7, and Epik, 5. Their relationship has been marked by years of on-and-off divorce filings, with the latest occurring in February last year.
The arrest marks the latest chapter in a complicated period for Ray J. In recent years, the “One Wish” singer has been publicly embroiled in a legal back-and-forth with ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Both sides have filed dueling lawsuits over long-standing disputes related to the infamous 2007 sex tape.
