Kate Winslet turned the “Goodbye June” premiere into a family celebration, showing up with her 21‑year‑old son, Joe Anders, for what looked like a very relaxed mother‑son date. The two posed on the red carpet in London, smiling and standing close. It was the kind of comfortable moment one doesn’t always see at a big movie event. It was a moment for the two of them to enjoy what they had built together.
Kate Winslet and her son are all smiles at ‘Goodbye June’ London premiere
Kate Winslet and Joe Anders kept it simple in matching black outfits for their mother-son date at the “Goodbye June” premiere. Winslet wore a black off‑the‑shoulder dress with a gold belt, and Anders chose a black suit with a white shirt. The latter wrote the script for the movie, while his mom directed it. Hence, the night held a little extra meaning for both of them.
Winslet recently talked about the film while visiting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” She explained why she did not want to hand the story off to someone else, stating, “When it came to the point of the screenplay being ready, I was going to produce it.” Winslet added that she planned to act in it as well. Then she realized, “I suddenly couldn’t let it go.”
The “Titanic” veteran explained that giving the movie to another director meant the story would become theirs, and she did not want her son to lose that connection. As such, she told Kimmel, “I wanted him to remain a part of it. I wanted him to experience seeing this beautiful thing that he had created come to life.”
She described the process, saying, “We would read it through together and figure out what should stay and what should go,” calling the whole back‑and‑forth “glorious.” Winslet also shared that they did not clash much on set, though she had to think about how she offered notes. She said, “I had to learn how to say things to him in a sensitive way.”
Kate Winslet has always tried to keep her home life steady, even when her career is busy, and stepping out for a mother-son date at the “Goodbye June” premiere made that clear again.
