Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives added a new cast member, Miranda McWhorter. And while she may have been a stranger to viewers, the MomTok ladies were well-acquainted with Miranda. After all, she was a MomTok OG.
At one time, MomTok creator Taylor Frankie Paul and Miranda were best friends. However, after initially denying their involvement, Mirand and her ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, finally admitted that they were part of the “soft-swinging” scandal. During Season 2, it looked like Miranda tried to minimize her involvement to only kissing. However, the truth always comes out in those confessionals.
Miranda McWhorter owes over $12,000

At the end of Season 2 of SLOMW, Miranda wasn’t sure if she wanted to be part of MomTok. And while the ladies initially dragged their heels, they did vote her in during the third season. She even confronted Demi Engemann and stood her ground.
Now it seems that Miranda is experiencing some financial woes. US Weekly reported that on August 21, a default judgment in the amount of $12,849 was entered against Miranda. Discover Bank requested that interest and fees be added to the original amount owed, and the court agreed.
In September 2024, Discover Bank filed the lawsuit, alleging that Miranda hadn’t paid her bill for $12,409.27. According to the court papers, attorneys claimed that “although demand has repeatedly been made up [McWhorter], payment has not been made on [the] account.”
The documents continued, “As a result of services provided at [McWhorter’s] request, [Discover] established an account with [McWhorter]. [McWhorter] defaulted on the account by failing to make payments as they became due.”
Meanwhile, Miranda was served with legal papers on February 8, 2025. Her then-husband, Chase, contacted the process server and reportedly stated that they were working with a debt relief agency regarding the debt. However, neither Miranda nor Chase responded to the court regarding the case. Oops!
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is available to stream on Hulu.
