Is 2025 the year for mending fences? Kody Brown of Sister Wives certainly hopes so. After several years of animosity between him and his ex-wives, he’s hoping it’s not too late to say sorry. He’s starting by saying sorry in what he called a three-part apology tour, beginning with his second wife, Janelle Brown.

Kody has been pretty awful to Janelle over the years. She feels he has spent most of his time self-sabotaging, and he’s not shying away from his bad behavior in his apology. He admits that he has spent so much time being angry and lashing out, and now it appears as if he is looking for peace.
“I feel we’ve needed an olive branch, the entire family,” the Brown Patriarch said. On that note, he flew to North Carolina to meet with Janelle because she was the person Kody “felt the safest with to start offering that olive branch.”
Kody’s reason for initiating peace is that he wanted to “apologize for being so angry and bitter over the family breakup.” That anger spilled over and put him at odds with his three former wives and most of their children. He feels it’s time to raise the white flag.
“I’ve been a b*stard for about three years about this whole breakup, four years,” he told Janelle. “I think the meanest thing that I did was I said I didn’t love you. That wasn’t true. That was a lie from the perspective of pain.”
Janelle said she knew that he didn’t mean it, and they both admitted it was difficult navigating plural marriage. She has learned from the ugliness of the past. But despite admitting that she still cares about Kody and vice versa, it doesn’t mean they’re going to be friends.
“He’s not in my life,” Janelle said. “And I’m not going to be in his life.” At the very least, when they have to interact, it will no longer be contentious.
As for Kody, he shared that he’s willing to admit that he was part of something special as opposed to wanting to “burn everything to the ground” like he did when he was angry.
