From historic ticket demand to viral fan moments, the Eras Tour has generated countless headlines. But Taylor Swift says one particular fan experience stood out more than the rest. In a recent appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the 35-year-old singer revealed she’s seen reports of concertgoers experiencing memory gaps after her shows, and shared why those accounts made her rethink the scope of the tour.
Taylor Swift reveals reading reports of Eras Tour fans getting diagnoses with post-concert amnesia
While discussing how she processed the enormous scale of the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift said she didn’t initially grasp how deeply fans were connecting with the shows until she began seeing news coverage of what audience members claimed to experience afterward.
She told Colbert she read articles about medical professionals diagnosing attendees with what some described as “post-concert amnesia.” The “Lover” singer noted that fans had reported “joy blackouts,” or difficulty recalling portions of the show because of overwhelming excitement.
Swift said those accounts made her realize the tour had struck a chord beyond anything she anticipated. For her, the goal has always been to “create a sense of escape” with a performance that lifts people out of their daily stress. As such, the idea that fans were responding so intensely made her recognize how singular the Eras Tour had become.
The interview also saw Swift reflecting on the behind-the-scenes toll of the massive production, which spanned nearly two years, five continents, and 149 shows. She admitted she performed through the stomach flu “multiple times,” relying on a strict post-show routine to come down from the adrenaline.
Colbert pressed her on how she balances that public intensity with her private life. Swift described keeping her home intentionally calm and free of music memorabilia to help separate her career from her personal space. She also credited a small circle of confidants she trusts fully, including Stevie Nicks, Max Martin, and her fiancé, Travis Kelce.
Looking ahead, Swift said she’s grateful for a year that brought both professional milestones and personal joy. And as fans prepare for her upcoming concert film and docuseries, she emphasized that the Eras Tour became extraordinary because of the relationship built between artist and audience, even if some of those memories are a little blurry.
