HR Exec Kristin Cabot Opens up About Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal

Kristin Cabot, former HR executive at Astronomer, who made headlines during the Coldplay kiss cam scandal over the summer, has finally opened up about the viral moment. During the first interview since the fallout, Cabot revealed that she had to pay a hefty price for it. She not only lost her job but also faced months of threats and public shaming.

Kristin Cabot on viral Coldplay concert incident: ‘I made a bad decision’

Kristin Cabot was caught in a close embrace with her then-boss, CEO Andy Byron, on a kiss cam at the Coldplay concert in July. Since then, she has been the talk of the town. However, the former HR executive at Astronomer is now speaking up for the first time about the viral incident that changed her life in many ways.

While speaking to The New York Times, the mom of two admitted that she “made a bad decision and had a couple of [alcoholic] High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And it’s not nothing.”

But instead of making excuses, Cabot “took accountability” for her actions and “gave up” her “career for that.” “That’s the price I chose to pay,” she revealed. She further clarified that they were not in any physical relationship and that it was during the concert when they kissed the first and only time.

“I was so embarrassed and so horrified,” she confessed. “I’m the head of H.R., and he’s the C.E.O. It’s, like, so cliché and so bad… we both just sat there with our heads in our hands, like, ‘What just happened?'”

Cabot even revealed that after their clip went viral, she was labeled “a homewrecker” and “a gold digger.” Moreover, even her two teen kids were reluctant to be seen with her in public. “They were afraid that I was going to die, and they were going to die. That’s when the wheels fell off the cart.”

But now, despite the turmoil, Cabot wants her “kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up, but you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.” Cabot has since then filed for divorce from her second husband, Andrew, the CEO of a rum distillery.
