Sydney Sweeney Talks About ‘Excitement’ That Taylor Swift’s Song Brings

Sydney Sweeney recently remarked that The Housemaid, her latest film that also featured Amanda Seyfried, needed the Taylor Swift song that was featured in the thriller. The song left fans excited, but it seems that the inclusion has also thrilled the leading lady of the Paul Feig film.

After the release of The Housemaid, Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried discussed the highly impactful Taylor Swift song I Did Something Bad. The song appeared prominently in the movie. The filmmakers also positioned the track deliberately. It began playing as the Paul Feig thriller concluded with its twisted ending.

“It’s so perfect,” Sweeney told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview where she discussed the song. “We saw it before it was fully confirmed,” Sweeney added, “And we were like, ‘We can’t lose this!’ We were like, ‘You have to keep this!”

Amanda Seyfried also revealed that she was very excited for the song’s appearance in the film. She said she watched for the first time with a friend. “When it came on, we screamed like little girls, and that’s the excitement of what Taylor Swift’s songs can bring,” the Mean Girls actress said.

“It brings every generation together,” Sweeney further added about the song, “which is so fun.”

The Housemaid director Paul Feig also called the hit Taylor Swift song “the ultimate kind of empowerment song.”

He added, “We wanted to put it in, but I just kept going like, ‘I don’t think we’ll be able to clear this,’ because Taylor doesn’t really clear many of her songs.” But the song did get approved, and it meant a big deal to the director. “We were just like, ‘Oh my God.’ I still get so happy when that comes up. One reporter said like, ‘You should have a dance party at the end of the credits,’ and I kind of feel like I wanted to get up and dance to her,” he said.

The Housemaid is now playing in theatres.
