Recently, Reid was asked whether Kelce would return to play against the Raiders this weekend. To this, he replied, “Yes,” reassuring fans that he will show up for the match, which could possibly be his last if he decides to retire. Further revealing about his future in the NFL next season, Reid reveals, “I think I’m coming back, right? If they’ll have me back, I’ll come back. Following the Chiefs’ earlier loss to the Broncos on Christmas, Kelce addressed the media, where he was asked about his retirement plans. At the time, he refused to give a definite answer, leaving his future in the NFL uncertain. He said, “I’ll let that (retirement) be a decision that I make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization, when the time comes.”
During a conversation with Tony Gonzalez, Kelce opened up about the feeling of letting Reid down, following the Chiefs’ not being able to reach the playoffs. He elaborated, “I feel like I can’t even look my guy coach Andy Reid in his eyes right now because I feel like I disappointed him, or I let him down someway somehow. That’s my fearless leader. I just feel like it’s my job to go out there and make it happen” (via Sports Illustrated). While the whole team will show up for the final match of the season, Patrick Mahomes won’t be there, as he’s under rehab following his injury.
