Stefon Diggs’ focus appears to be solely on the NFL playoffs and nothing more. The New England Patriots’ wide receiver spoke publicly late last week to acknowledge the allegations against him. His former personal chef has accused the boyfriend of Cardi B of assault in what sounded like a traumatic experience.
The four-time Pro Bowler admitted it’s been a difficult time for him personally since the accusations against him came out. Considering that case, Stefon was still involved in Sunday’s game, catching three passes for 43 yards in the Patriots’ 38-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins.
H2: Stefon was accused of slapping and choking his personal chef
Though Stefon addressed the alleged scandal he’s facing, he won’t share any details about the incident in question. During a media scrum on Friday, he said, “It’s definitely an open case, so I can’t even say anything about it.” Should anyone ask him about the alleged incident, Stefon promised to simply give them a look.
According to the chef, Stefon strangled her and threw her onto the bed. Things reportedly got heated when the NFL star was confronted over unpaid wages the chef claimed she was owed. She went to the police on December 16 to report the alleged incident.
Stefon’s first season with the Pats has been filled with plenty of positive and negative events in his personal life. He and Cardi welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in November. That same month, a male influencer made sexual battery allegations against Stefon.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has said they take the allegations against Stefon seriously, adding that they don’t want to jump to any conclusions. Quarterback Drake Maye has said how much Stefon means to the team.
In a statement, Stefon’s lawyer, David Meier, called the allegations against his client unsubstantiated and uncorroborated because, in his words, “they did not occur.” Stefon is scheduled to be arraigned on January 23, two days before the AFC Championship Game. The Patriots open the playoffs on Sunday night when they host the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium.
