NFL star Stefon Diggs is pushing back against the man accusing him of sexual assault. He is arguing in newly filed court documents that the allegations are part of an effort to gain publicity. The latest filing marks another development in the ongoing legal battle that has stretched on for months.
Stefon Diggs denies assault allegations while accusing Christopher Griffith of seeking fame
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Diggs opposed Christopher Griffith’s request to amend his countersuit by adding new claims and evidence. Griffith recently asked the court for permission to include allegations that Diggs defamed him after he commented on the lawsuit on social media.
In the post, Diggs wrote, “Mamas a n** lying on my name because he got caught stealing.” In the new filing, Diggs argued the statement was not defamatory, maintaining that Griffith had, in fact, lied about him.
The filing further alleges that Griffith has attempted to amplify publicity by appearing on pop culture platforms, including No Jumper and VladTV. Diggs’ legal team argued those appearances support their claim that the lawsuit is being used to generate attention. Rather than pursue legitimate legal claims.
The dispute stems from allegations involving events in May 2023. Griffith claims Diggs sexually assaulted him at the NFL player’s Maryland home after inviting him there.
He also alleges that about a week later, members of Diggs’ family and associates assaulted and robbed him in Los Angeles in an effort to keep him quiet. Diggs has consistently denied all allegations.
The legal battle escalated in October 2025, when Diggs filed a defamation lawsuit against Griffith, accusing him of fabricating the allegations. Griffith responded with a countersuit alleging sexual battery, conspiracy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The case has since entered an extensive discovery phase. Recent court filings have focused on text messages, Instagram direct messages, travel records, and other evidence that both sides claim supports their version of events.
A federal judge also recently ordered Griffith to turn over his complete, unedited Instagram message history with Diggs. That included their travel-related records connected to the alleged 2023 trip.
The lawsuit remains ongoing, and the court has not ruled on the underlying allegations.
